April was insane. It was one of those months that you look back on and just shake your head at. As you know, we decided to move this month. It was part way through the month before we even knew where we were going and what to expect. To say that it has been a whirlwind is an understatement.
At the same time, very little packing was actually done until the extreme end of the month when we had a week left before we move.
We are procrastinators.
April Fool’s Day
This April Fool’s Day was epic. I, of course, didn’t come up with any pranks. Mama was queen this time and I piggybacked on some of her pranks.
The Mealworm Brownies
Last year, Mama made poop-shaped brownies. She decided to do it again this year, only this time a secret ingredient would be added. I smuggled up old, stale mealworms and watched in delight as they were mixed into the brownie batter and then served to the unsuspecting children.
The look on Nahum and Jehosheba’s faces when they realized what had happened…priceless!
Mashed potato ice cream
The second food prank was with dessert. We bought two types of ice cream along with caramel syrup. Mama dished out the ice cream and added a third scoop of something special and then covered it in caramel.
Baruch ate all of his, strange looks crossing his face every now and then. Yoveil kept gagging and saying, “I don’t like the coffee ice cream! The coffee ice cream tastes weird.” XD
Nahum mixed his all together into a disgusting soup, but he ate it all. It was super funny to reveal that the third scoop was mashed potatoes!
The Dating Site
I knew this one was coming and I was not thrilled. For a year, J and my own MOTHER have been saying that they want to sign me up for ONLINE DATING. Can we all just agree on the insanity of that?
Thank you.
I got home from work March 31st and Jehosheba excitedly beckoned me upstairs. She and Mama showed me the lovely profile that they had made for me on Soverine Grace Singles. ๐๐คฆโโ๏ธ They also showed me the messages of several elderly gentlemen and their responses.
Yes. My family is crazy.
Nicholas Cage Heads
As a prank on Jehosheba, Mama found a program that replaces all the images on Google with pictures of Nicholas Cage. ๐ for 24 hours! It got old real fast….
The stink bomb
Baruch made a horrible concoction of rotting garlic, trash and leftover chunks of meat and fat and placed it in Jehosheba’s room. The smell was awful. Since he made two, she only found one and we thought the smell was just lingering and would eventually go away.
It didn’t.
My room is right across from Js so the smell wafted into my space. I attempted to fix the smell by sprinkling orange essential oil in my space.
It did nothing except make my room smell like garlic and fish oil. ๐คข๐คฎ
The infamous email
This was a prank on Daddy. All Jehosheba and Mama. The prank went too far. Much too far. *mysterious music* it will be remembered forever in the Reschly history.
If you want to know the story, message me. I am too mentally exhausted at the moment to write it down here.
Others
Then there were the other pranks. Pasta on the toilet seats. Nahum scribbling all over a copy of one of my art pieces. Vasoline on the door handles.
This year can’t be topped. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Passover
We had a lovely time celebrating Passover this year! I took off work for the day and Daddy didn’t have a job either, so we were all home to celebrate together!!
We spent a lot of the afternoon making the special meal. I made a huge, very rich matzo ice box cake.
The seder itself was lovely. All of the kids are finally old enough to appreciate the meaning and the symbolism and the traditions, so that was extra special!

We also did our traditional yearly boys vs girls passover games! The boys got horribly competitive and made the whole thing not fun. ๐ They won but made everyone miserable in the process. ๐
The Food Nights
We had our last few Around the World in 80 Days food nights. They were so much fun and I’m sad that they are done! ๐๐

The Cherry Trees
Around the Utah capital building is a little walkway lined with cherry trees. We went to visit them last year and had a lovely time! We did the same this year.
We visited our favorite bakery, Vosens, one last time for breakfast and then enjoyed the lovely cherry trees. ๐

The Teeth of Doom
Yoveil lost her first two teeth this month! *sniffles* My baby promised not to grow up. SHE LIED! *weeps on my feet*

I also got a root canal.
That was real fun. *sighs* I broke one of my teeth a couple years ago. Lesson for you, my reader: don’t chew on ice covered in lemon juice constantly. Since the tooth didn’t really hurt besides being sensitive to cold, I never said anything about it to anyone. When we went in for dental cleanings, they found it and said that I needed a root canal asap.
I should have been dying of fear, but I wasn’t at all until I got in there and they started putting stuff in my mouth. XD Let’s just say that it didn’t really hurt but it was a sensory nightmare and I was so tired when everything was done.
The good news is that I can now drink water without my tooth screaming in pain. I didn’t realize how much it hurt until the pain wasn’t there anymore. It’s been SO nice to actually drink cold water again! *heart eyes*
The Insanity of Utah Weather
Can we all just agree that Utah is chaotic? The weather has been absolutely crazy. It started warming up halfway through the month and I was actually able to go outside without my coat. I was THRILLED because HURRAH maybe winter is actually ending!
But no, it was just false hope. A few days after the warm week, it snowed. SNOWED. Three times. Snow at the end of April. You expect this kind of thing from Minnesota but not a desert like Utah.

I don’t like the cold. I’m tired of being an ice cube all of the time, no matter how warm I dress! Work is the worst. It’s warmish during the day when everyone is running around and the oven is going and such, but the last hour at night when everything is done, I FREEZE. My fingernails literally turn purple. ๐ฑ๐ซ

I’m looking forward to Florida’s heat.
Not the humidity, though. Oh the humidity. ๐ซ
Update on the Baby
My baby sugar glider is growing well. He is MASSIVE. I am still looking for a name. Yoveil still wants to name him Bob and I am still throwing that in the trash.
The Pain of Leaving Somewhere I Thought I Wasn’t Attached To
Telling my coworkers that I was leaving was the hardest thing I’ve had to do in a while. Let’s just say that Tina got a front-row seat to my emotional meltdown and got the pleasure of watching me cry for almost an hour. ๐
She was so sweet, though. She listened, gave me about a billion hugs, and told me to text or call any time – even after I left, and that her house is always open if I want to come visit. ๐๐ญ I don’t deserve such kind people, man…
I went to work the next day promising myself that I wasn’t going to fall apart and that it would be fine. But when one of the girls started crying over me leaving and another one told me how much she loved me and then one of the staff said some random thing, I lost it. ๐ Tina was super sweet, bought me kombucha, and talked to me for a while.
Man, I have never been this sad about leaving a place. I’ve lived in eight different states and various houses within those states. I’m used to moving. I like it. But the last time I cried over leaving somewhere was when I was seven or eight and we left my beloved house in PA.
I never ever want to love people like this again because leaving hurts way more than I expected. ๐๐๐๐

What did you do in April? Have you celebrated Passover? Any chance you’ll be down in FL soon? Come visit us! ๐
April 2022: Lots of delicious food and the humiliation of taking doula classes
April 2021: New sugar gliders, trips, and random stories
April 2020: Cutess by Yoveil and me wailing about my boring life
How was your April? What did you do? Best food you ate? How do you deal with moves? Have you ever had a root canal?
The April Fools shenanigans sound amazing. I think I like the prank about the dating site the best, but I’m also curious to know more about the email๐
Ooh, the Around the World/food sounds SO cool! I’d love to try something like that one day. And *gasp* a BABY SUGAR GLIDER? Have you shared photos because I missed them if so. And if you didn’t…I’d like to see them!
I wish you great luck with the move! I’ve never moved in my life(well, technically I moved a lot as a baby, but I have no recollection of that soooo), but I can imagine it’s difficult to pack up and leave everything behind. But you got this.

Lol the dating site was pretty unbeatable! I’ll write out the email prank in the comments tomorrow. It was epic!
You should try the 80 days food sometime! It was a lot of fun to get to have a lot of unique foods that we would never have otherwise.
I shared a pic of the little glider in the last random update but not since!! He is SO cute. I’m getting him in 5 days and will do a whole post on that!!! ๐
Thank you so much, Diamond. ๐ I appreciate it.

Your month seemed very eventful! That is A LOT of pranks you had to endure. Your family is scarily creative. My baby sister’s growing up too. Get these kids arrested! They’re not permitted to grow up! ๐ฅบ I could never imagine living in freezing temperatures, but you can do it! I’m cheering you on! Saying goodbye is the worst. I cry when ending a grade; I can’t imagine leaving home. (I’ve done it once but can’t recall the emotions too vividly.) Like Diamond said, you got this by God’s grace, Hattush!

It was crazy the amount of pranks that were done this year! It’s always sad that I can’t come up with any, lol.
I totally agree! The kids need to stop growing. *sniffles * They can’t keep growing…๐ฅ
Thank you so much, Breanna. ๐ It means a lot. โค
