Random Life Update: August

Ah, what a month! August was filled with a shocking decision, a head injury, a trip…and a baby food eating contest. Read on to hear more about it!

We started out the month by getting sick. :/ We got a cold and were all miserable for over a week. It was the worst possible week for me to get sick!

First of all, I had my appointment to get my leg reevaluated and hopefully get my boot off. We called and they were okay with us coming in, though, which was a relief! The bad new was that my leg wasn’t healed enough to completely do away with The Boot. I was able to keep it off at home, though, and just wear it when I went out. Thankfully, I was able to get it off completely a week or so before the end of the month.

That week was also the start of Crazy Writing Week. I had such big plans for writing…and I was sick. Of course. Thankfully, I got hit with the worst of the sickness the day before CWW began and by the time it started, I had dragged myself out of bed and was writing away (not that my brain had anything coherent to say, lol, but I hope it did. XD)

On the whole, CWW was a success for me! Jehosheba and I were on opposing teams (*cries*) and it was a close race the entire time! All of the writers did such a good job! It ended up being a tie!

As you remember, we had a party for Baruch a couple months ago to celebrate his successes in learning to read and write with dyslexia. This month we had part two of that party! It was a whole lot of fun. Everyone was still recovering from the illness so there were lots of runny noses and tissues being used, but it was fun none the less.

One part of the party was a baby food eating contest. Don’t ask why we had eight jars of baby food in the house. XD But Baruch was very excited about the idea so we did it. All seven of us (Mama was the videographer 😂) sat around the table with little jars of baby food in front of us. The count down. Three, two, one and everyone was drinking the puree as quickly as they could! XD I knew I didn’t have a chance, so I was just eating it slowly. XD XD (It wasn’t actually too bad flavor wise, but I did have pear). Nahum and Daddy finished first.

There was one baby food left and those two were going to split it and see how fast they could eat it. But Daddy gave his place to Baruch. XD So the boys were slurping the last baby food container. We were all laughing so hard! It was so gross! Baruch laughed and baby foot squirted out of the corners of his mouth and, uh, stuff came out of his nose, too (he had a cold, remember?). It was SO GROSS, but it looked just like a cartoon! Baruch and Yoveil both looked quite ill afterwards and I was afraid that they would throw up. XD But they didn’t.

We ended the day with pizza, cake and presents. It was a lot of fun. I love celebrating (and eating dessert, of course). 😉

One huge thing that happened this month was Baruch’s concussion. All of the adultish people (my parents, Jehosheba and I) were all upstairs, showing a pet sitter the animals and filling her in on the details of their care. We were up there for like ten minutes maybe and when we came down, Baruch had a concussion. :/

Apparently, the boys thought that it would be a brilliant idea to tie each other to a chair and then try to escape. Nahum got out alright, but when Baruch was trying to get out, he fell forward and slammed his head into the hardwood floor. Daddy took him to Urgent Care a little later and then he went to the ER. Poor guy. He did enjoy being babied, but he wasn’t a huge fan of letting his brain rest. He kept saying, “IS MY CONCUSSION DONE YET?!”

At the end of the month, we took a trip to Utah. I will do a whole different post about it, so I won’t go into a lot of detail here. Utah is absolutely beautiful. The scenery is gorgeous. We spent 10 days there and just got home very early this morning. My brain is a little blurred with lack of sleep, so pardon this post, lol.

We left Utah with the idea of scouting it out for our next potential place to live. We came back with a huge decision.

We’re moving to Utah.

Yep. We’re moving again. We have a house picked out already and we will be there at the end of this month! It came as a real surprise. Everything happened so fast. I don’t know how we’re going to get everything packed and ready in that time. Yes, I realize that some people can pack up everything and get moved in a few days. But we’re a family of eight. Moving far away. With lots of useless junk. XD It takes a while. XD

Another big thing that happened was that I finished high school! I really wanted to get it done before we left for the trip. I finished everything the day before we left for Utah. Mama made amazing caramel pudding and we watched a movie and it was a fun night. 🙂 It felt so weird to wake up this morning, come downstairs and remember that I didn’t have to slave over math anymore. 😁

This was a big month. I still can’t believe all that’s happened in it. *shakes head* It really is amazing how fast your life can change. I find that kind of scary and somewhat hopeful as well.

Alright, to wrap up this post, I will give the floor to my younger siblings, Yoveil and Dovid. Enjoy their cuteness. ❤

Me: Baby, you are so cute, I kind of just want to record everything you say.

Yoveil, with a big grin: Okay, Hada! You can!

Yoveil loves the Princess Bride movie – especially Inigo’s famous line, “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father, prepare to die.”

The whole time we were on the trip, she was quoting that (putting in her name, of course). Then she started doing variations on it.

Yoveil: Hello, my name is Mr. Potato Head. You killed Mrs. Potato Head, prepare to die.”

Yoveil: Hello, my name is Baby. You killed Dadda, prepare to die.

Yoveil: Hello, my name is Cookie. You killed my crumbles, prepare to die.

😂 Adorable, isn’t it? I wish you all could hear her say it in her adorable little voice!

Yoveil HATES having anything done to her hair. One day Jehosheba finally convinced her to let her put it into a braid. It looked so nice and she looked so clean and pretty. She was NOT happy, though. A pet sitter was coming for a visit that day and, after much negotiating on my part, Yoveil promised that she would keep the braid in until the pet sitter left. Fast forward half and hour and the braid was gone. I found Yoveil later and we were talking about it.

Me: Baby, you promised to keep the braid in!

Yoveil: Hada, I will do anything, anything, for you – if it doesn’t involve my hair.

Me: Can I eat all of your dessert tomorrow?

Yoveil: Uh, no. But anything else that doesn’t involve my hair!

Me, after much thought: Will you give me your first born child?

Yoveil: No! You’d be gone in your own house when I have a baby.

Me: I could come to your house to get the baby.

Yoveil: I’d be living with Mommy and she wouldn’t let you!

Me: Hmm. What about if you gave me all of your money?

Yoveil: NO WAY!

Me: Can I have your child then?

Yoveil: Well, okay.

A few minutes later, Yoveil was crying and saying: Hada, anything else! I’ll give you anything else!

Me, laughing: What about just a couple bites of your dessert tomorrow?

Yoveil: Okay!

Me: Now you have to stop crying.

Yoveil buries her face in my lap: Hada, I’m too sad to stop crying.

When we were in Utah, we were driving around in a rental van. I was sitting next to Dovid.

Dovid: Where is our other car? (our mini van)

Me: In Georgia.

Dovid: In Georgia?

Me: Yep.

Dovid: NO!

Me: Yes.

Dovid: No, it’s not.

Me: It is.

Dovid, crosses arms and glares: I’m MAD and ANGRY.

    1. Just realized, I didn’t answer any of your questions 😅
My siblings and I actually did eat baby food once, when we had a lot left over that someone had given us for my little brother. I think it was chocolate flavored XD What was the kind you all were eating?

    2. Yes! Lots going on! I still need to write the September update, lol.
We are buying this time! At least that’s the plan. We have had a lot of trouble closing on our house. Technically we should close tomorrow, but no one is sure it’ll actually happen. 😐
      Thank you!!!
