Random Life Update: June

Where did June go? Man, you guys, this month just flew by. I blinked and the calendar had switched from June to July.

It doesn’t really feel like summer. It’s hot, but it’s also been insanely rainy. Some days it feels more like fall! In fact, I’m listening to Christmas music as I write this, haha. Never too early to start getting in the holiday spirit, eh?

It was a busy month filled with lots of celebrations here. We started out the month with a lovely visit from Nana, Papa and Cannon. It was so wonderful to get to see them all again! Cannon is growing at the speed of light and is walking and talking now! I always love it when there are two toddlers in the house (although there is twice the mess and noise, lol).

We visited the fire museum with them and that was cool. We went downtown and got bubble tea and walked around some of the shops there, too. We got pizza for lunch one day at a place called Your Pie. It’s amazing. The pizza is so delicious and they have so many unique flavors. Plus, they have really good gelato.

I got to meet my friend & pen pal Amie for the first time ever. That was really cool. We live in the same state, but we had never gotten together. It was awesome to be able to meet her in person. Our families spent a really fun afternoon together. ❀

Baruch struggles with dyslexia and Mama is working with him to help him learn to read. In any case, we decided to throw him a party when he learned all of his letters and knew them without reversing them (it’s a big deal). So he had a giant cookie cake with marshmallows and some little presents. He was thrilled and had a great day.

The third weekend in June was filled with lots of celebrating! It was Jehosheba’s birthday plus Father’s Day! Mama did a lot of work planning and we celebrated for a three day weekend.

On Saturday we drove a couple hours to Athens, GA and spent the day there. It was raining, of course, but we managed to have a really good time. We visited a farmer’s market (and got the best GF cupcakes!) and an animal rehabilitation area and then after lunch (GF stuff is hard to find….) we toured a historical house/visitor center. We also went to an art museum and *melts* I was so inspired. (Not for painting, haha, but writing). There were so many beautiful pieces there, I was just walking around in a happy daze. We ended the day by having GF pizza and watching a very strange movie that involved jellyfish. *nods*

Sunday we celebrated Father’s Day. We had church in the morning and then we drove around town stopping at various places so that Daddy could photograph the city skyline. πŸ™‚ We went out for tacos that night and then came home and ate ammmazing tiramisu. *licks lips*

Monday was Jehosheba’s fifteenth birthday. *cries because my little sister is getting so old* After a sausage biscuit brunch, we went on a street art scavenger hunt. I always find street art very interesting. It is so diverse and so unique to the artist. I don’t like a lot of it, but it is very intriguing to look at. We spent the afternoon doing that (and nearly getting drenched by sudden downpours of rain) and then we went to a food hall (Ponce City Market – a favorite!) and we split a few 100-Layer Donuts (try them, they are the BEST) and some coffee.

Everyone was tired by that time and we went home. We hung out in the living room and watched cooking shows (J and Daddy did puzzles) while Mama made moussaka and Jehosheba’s keylime pie. We had a great night eating and opening presents and sitting around together.

Some other random things that happened this month…

  • I FINISHED THE FIRST DRAFT OF MY NOVEL! I’m so very happy about that. It’s really rough, but I’m pleased that it’s done. It feels so good to finally finish something in my writing.
  • Spring100 ended. I was so sad when it was done! But I’m pleased to say that I officially ran/walked 200 miles in 100 days. That was really good for me, because I had pretty much avoided exercise for a whole year. XD
  • I broke my favorite watch. *Weeps* I have a backup, but I don’t like it very much because it is really heavy and…ugh.
  • The Fellowship Competition on YWW started, so I got a lot of writing done *cheers*
  • I finished geometry finally. It was agonizing, but I’m so happy to have it done! XD
  • I read a lot. I started re-reading the Chronicles of Narnia and I forgot how much I loved it. I haven’t read it in a few years. It’s been so nostalgic hearing the old stories again!

That wraps up June! I hope that you all had a wonderful month as well. Let’s chat in the comments!

(Also, I apologize for the lack of pictures in this post. My camera was sadly neglected in June.)

What did you do this June? What is your weather like? Do you have any birthdays in June? How did you celebrate Father’s Day? Do you like photography? Have you ever tried 100-layer donuts? What about moussaka? If you’re a writer, how is your writing going? Do you wear watches? What things are you looking forward to in July? Do you have plans for the summer?

  1. Gah, it’s not just June for me, but the entire 2021 is passing by at light speed. Congrats on finishing your first draft! Now on to the most ‘meh’ part of the writing process for meβ€”editing! Wishing you all the best on this journey!

We had my oldest sister’s birthday in June, and Father’s Day was great! : D
I like photography, but I don’t do much of it, and I’m really terrible at it πŸ˜…
Sorry for the concise comment. My longest one will be on your July post (I think), and I’m saving my brain power πŸ˜‚ and the news for that. πŸ˜‰
    Love ya! 😘
