Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (+ a recipe)

I absolutely love apple cider vinegar. It has a very acidic, unique taste and I don’t know anyone else who likes it like I do or who likes it at all now that I come to think about it. My family is on a low-acid diet right now, so apple cider vinegar has gone far far away. But I’ve been craving it so bad lately! My mouth is literally watering right now. πŸ˜‚

If you’re like most people and avoid ACV because of the taste, I’m here to say, DON’T! ACV has some amazing health benefits.

It can…

  • lower blood sugar levels
  • help with heartburn
  • reduce bloating
  • improve digestion
  • decrease the risk of getting cancer
  • is amazing at killing bacteria
  • helps to treat acne
  • improves hair health and fights dandruff
  • improves skin health & can help with sunburns
  • and much more!

ACV is rich in vitamins and minerals and is all around an amazing liquid. It’s recommended that you use 1-2 tablespoons of ACV a day. How can you incorporate this pungent ingredient into your diet? A lot of people mix it into tea/water or salad dressing. Because it is so acidic, you shouldn’t drink it plain. I’ve done that before and man, my throat was on fire. My favorite way to drink ACV is to combine it with several other ingredients and make it into a tasty tea. *nods*

My Apple Cider Vinegar Drink

(The proportions are probably off because I never measure anything and I like mine to be really strong. You can adjust all of the ingredients to your liking.)

  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 1 tsp of fresh ginger, finely cut
  • Juice from 1/2 a large lemon
  • 2 1/2 – 3 tbsp of ACV
  • Honey or stevia to taste

Boil the water. Add the ginger and seep for ten minutes. Remove ginger pieces if you wish. Add lemon juice, ACV and your sweetener. Enjoy warm or add ice for a refreshing summer drink.

*IMPORTANT* Drink this with a straw because this is a very acidic drink and the vinegar can eat away at the enamel of your teeth if your not careful.

Have a wonderful day, friends.

Have you tried ACV? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Do you like the taste? How do you use it in your food/drink?

  1. πŸ˜– Eww! I don’t really like apple cider vinegar drinks.
MAYBE, just MAYBE at some point I’ll try that drink. But right now, I’m not very eager to. πŸ˜…
