To Minnesota Once More!

Hey guys! I hope you all had a great time celebrating the 4th and enjoying SUMMER! 😉 The past few days in R-ville have been rather busy. XD Jehosheba and I had our last appointment with our orthodontist from MN! The day before we left, I was busy worrying about my babies (Inky and Dreamer 😉 ) and writing up a very long list of instructions for Daddy and the boys (who were going to be watching them).

Very early the morning of the seventh, Mama, Jehosheba, Dovid and I got in our van and drove to Atlanta to catch our flight to Minnesota. I slept most of the drive down. XD Masks were mandatory everywhere (including during the whole flight…my ears hurt so bad by the end of the trip!). We got Dovid to wear one for a while, which was SO cute!

Jehosheba with her Skillet T-shirt! 😉

I read most of Adorning the Dark by Andrew Peterson during the flight. It was SUCH a good book!

After the flight was over, and we arrived in MN and got our rental car, we grabbed supper at SmashBurger. *cheers* I love burgers, fries and onion rings. 😉 We went to a little game store and bought some fun stuff! I bought two things of Crazy Aaron’s putty! XD They’re so great! XD We bought a couple games as well. We went to Panera and got some dessert/coffee and tried to play a game. But Dovid was very….uh, what’s the word. Very restless. XD So we headed back to the hotel and spent the rest of the night talking/laughing!

The next morning after a pitiful hotel breakfast consisting of a granola bar, we brushed our teeth very well and then headed over to our ortho appointment!

Last photo with braces! 😉

Everyone there was SO nice and it was great to have my braces off!!

NO BRACES!
Ate laughy taffy to celebrate XD

After that was over, we drove to downtown Stillwater, MN and spent the majority of the afternoon there. We went to a little coffee shop and got a coffee. 😉

Dovid got chocolate milk for the first time and he was in love!

We went to several little shops.

The Mercantile with breakable things that Tiny was inevitably drawn to

We went to a couple candy stores and bought a bunch to eat/take home. *big smile* I have a great love for sour candies, so I got a ton of those. XD XD (As of the moment of writing this, I am so sick of candy. XD I was actually dreaming of huge plates of broccoli and beautiful non-greasy crumbled pieces of meat!)

In Stillwater there is one of the three liftbridges in this country! They lift it every half hour, so we got to see that. It was pretty cool!

Before
After

We went to a little tea and spice store which smelled AMAZING! We got some great looking tea there! Then we headed to Ziggy’s for lunch. All of us got beef street tacos there. They were so good!!!

Then we got headed to the GREAT ice cream shop Nelson’s. We went there once when we lived in Minnesota and it was amazing!! The sizes are HUGE and the flavors SO good! We got one to split and ate that on the way back to the airport.

Dovid asleep at the ice cream place!

We got to the airport about three hours before we even boarded the plane. XD So we walked around a lot, got more coffee/drinks and read a bunch. XD After we took off, I read more and listened to music. (Mainly Casting Crowns and NF).

It was weird realizing that we really have no reason to go back to MN anymore. This is from my journal:

We just took off and we’re in the air now. It’s surreal, really. Looking down and seeing the lakes, roads and little cities stretched out on the flat land and realizing that this is goodbye. For real. We don’t have any reason to go back to Minnesota anymore. This is really, truly goodbye to MN. I’ll miss things about it, but on the whole, I’m glad to have moved.

It was around 11 PM by the time we landed. *eyes droop* It took another hour before we got back to the parking and our van and then another hour before we were in our hotel room. XD (We had to try three different hotel rooms because they smelled terribly like smoke). We were all so tired and I slept surprisingly well (which is unusual for me!)

The morning of the ninth, we got up late and then headed over to Ponce City Market and got coffee and each got a hundred-layer doughnut. *drools*

Mine is on the left. Tiny got a Boston Cream doughnut AND HE ATE THE WHOLE THING! *gasps*

The drive home was fun and long. XD Dovid was crying/fussy for a lot of it and was hard to calm down. He was so sick of being in vehicles and unable to run free. I felt like a terrible sister – I was feeding him doughnut and candy and he kept grabbing my coffee and drinking it….XD (Don’t worry, now that he’s home he’s back to his diet of water and veggies…sort of. XD)

Close to TN!
I read a lot! I wanted to finish reading The Hobbit. Did make it but got pretty close. 😉
Poor Dovid was so ready to get out!

We got back and were welcomed by a very happy/cute/excited family! It was great to see everyone again! And my babies were okay and happy to see me again! 😉

Have you ever been to Minnesota? Do you like candy? Have you had to have orthodontic treatment? Do you like doughnuts?

    1. YEEEES! I’m so excited to have no more braces! They were a blessing, though! Our orthodontist was awesome and wasn’t only concerned with appearances, but also with airways and breathing. She was great!
Haha, yup….it’s our little joke. XD Last time we went to MN she took an awful picture of me sleeping on the plane, so I had to make sure I had a goofy one of her just in case she tried to do that again. XD XD

  4. You sound like Yoveil when she leaves me messages, “Do you like candy? Do you like ice cream?” Lol! I’m glad things went well on your trip! I love all the photos too, you look great with and without braces!! We love NF here too. I have to explain to the boys though how NF loves Jesus, but he’s got a lot of anger inside…🤣

    1. Haha! Yeah, I guess I do. XD She’s so cute when she messages you. 😉
      Thanks!
Yeah, I don’t normally like that style of music, but I enjoy NF. Haha, I tried to explain that same concept to Baruch after I let him listen to one of the songs, but he left before I finished. XD

  5. Cool bridge! I’ve never seen one like that before, even in photos.
I used to love donuts. Then I had to go gluten free, and GF donuts are not NEARLY as good. I bought some once, and that was enough.
I’ve always loved candy bars like Snickers, Baby Ruth, Krackle, Nestles Crunch, etc. I’ve stopped eating the last 2, but I still occasionally indulge in one of the first 2. I also like Smarties and Sweet Tarts.
I need braces, but I never got them. When I asked about getting them a few years ago, the dentist told me I would need to have my jaw broken and that he didn’t recommend that. I tend to agree! LOL You are blessed to have been given the gift of braces, even though I’m sure it wasn’t always a pleasant experience. It’s definitely something to thank God (and your parents) for.
I’m glad you girls had such a fun trip (poor Dovid- did he enjoy any part of it?) and that you made it safely home. Thanks for sharing your experience! 😊

    1. The bridge was SO cool and I’m so glad that we got to see it! If you’re ever in MN, you should check it out!
Ah yes…it’s really too bad that a lot of GF desserts don’t taste as good as “normal” ones. Do you bake at all?
Having to have your jaw broken – YIKES! 😮😱
Yeah, I’m really grateful that I was able to get braces. Our orthodontist was so good, too. My palette used to be really narrow and my teeth were so crooked and that caused a bunch of airway/breathing problems. But thankfully, she was able to do a lot of work on both Jehosheba and I!
I felt so bad for Dovid! He enjoyed the candy (XD) and he enjoyed waving at people and making friends. He’s a big people person and would just stop and wave or talk to anyone who walked by. It was so cute!

      1. Minnesota is one of the states I’ve never visited. If we ever decide to go, I’ll have to keep that in mind.
I bake occasionally, but not often. We have gluten-free flour….
Wow, I’m glad they were able to fix those airway/breathing problems for you!
That’s always so cute when little ones are so friendly! 😁

        1. Do you ever think you’ll go?
Cool! What types of flours do you use?
I knooooow. He’s been one of the most outgoing/un-shy babies in this family. XD

          1. Oh, I forgot to answer the rest. I usually make my own mixtures, except for my favorite pancake mix, which is GF Bob’s Red Mill. Mostly brown rice flour, tapioca flour, a bit of potato starch, sorghum flour. I’ve also got almond flour, hazelnut flour, oat flour, garbanzo flour, and coconut flour. I don’t use those much though, and they’re taking forever to use up. I use corn starch to make gravy.
I’m sure the Lord has great plans for you brother that will necessitate those qualities. 💖

  7. Sounds like a very fun trip! I’ve never been to MN. Mmmmmm! 😋😋 Doughnuts! Yes. I. Like. Doughnuts!…But can’t eat them. 🙁 When my siblings and I were younger, our dad would take us to Dunk ‘n’ Doughnuts for a treat. Like when we stopped using binkies, or something like that.
No, I’ve never had braces, though I’ve had at least one dentist ask if I’ve ever had braces.

Aw, how sad! That’s tragic. Doughnuts are so good.
That’s so sweet! I’m sure those are treasured memories!
Really? You must have great teeth!! 😉
