Random Life Update: June

June turned out to be a pretty full month. At the beginning, we got out our trusty old swimming pool and set that up. The kids were SO happy about that. Baruch had been begging for it for months (since winter, basically XD). I’ve actually enjoyed swimming with them, too. 😉 Yoveil LOVES it but doesn’t like getting splashed. XD She enjoys riding on my back in the water and hiding from the boys (who are doing the splashing).

We also increased our pet family by quite a bit! Jehosheba got two SWEET little guinea pigs named Shadow and Nugget. You can see her blog post about them here. Nahum got a fish tank set up and we have six snails, four fish and a bunch of water plants there! It’s great to just sit and watch the tank. So relaxing! XD

One of Nahum’s big snails managed to climb out of the tank, across the floor and found itself in the merciless grip of Dovid. *cringes* Needless to say, he was thrown to the ground. We put him back in the tank, but were pretty sure that he wouldn’t make it. But surprisingly, he’s starting to move around again (slowly) so I’m hoping that he’ll end up being okay.

We celebrated Jehosheba’s fourteenth birthday and Father’s Day. A few days afterwards, Nana, Papa, Uncle Grant, Cannon and my cousin Zaiden came for a visit! They stayed for four days and we had an awesome time! From hiking, to eating, to swimming and talking, it was a lot of fun. I didn’t take a ton of pictures, though. 🙄

After a hike, we all went to this great cookie dough shop. They have great burgers and AMAZING nachos. But their cookie dough….*goes off into a trance* Ah man, seriously. It is the best. They have like eighteen different flavors. This time I tried s’more and white chocolate macadamia nut. IT WAS SO GOOD! They gave us huge scoops, so it took me a couple days to finish mine. XD But it was so worth it to go there! I love cookie dough and everyone should try it (including you, Grandpa! You need to give it a chance!)

CANNON IS SO CUTE!

We walked around downtown for a while. I had to laugh because we were such a big group! Four adults, three teens, three kids and two babies! XD

Waiting for lunch at Petro’s!
And then ice cream! (And the social distancing sign beside it XD)
We all went on a hike to see a water fall. 😉
This was a lovely sign to see with so many little kids around. 😱😱

Cannon is getting so big! He’s walking now and is so sweet! It was so cute to see him and Dovid together. We had helium balloons leftover from the celebrations and they both had a blast chasing those around and playing with them!

Jehosheba asked for a story for her birthday, so I worked on writing on during the end of May and the beginning of June. It ended up being a little over 47,000 words. It still has a ton of stuff that I’m working to fix, but I was happy to finish it in time for her birthday! XD

Right now I’m listening to the album Lifesong by Casting Crowns. Ah, I love this album! My favorite songs from it are Does Anybody Hear Her (watch the music video, it is really powerful), Stained Glass Masquerade, Love Them Like Jesus, Prodigal (SOBS THIS IS BEAUTIFUL) and Set Me Free. *heart eyes*

She is run ning
A hundred miles an hour
In the wrong direction
She is trying
But the canyon’s ever-widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She’s another two years older and she’s three more steps behind

Are we happy plastic people
Under shiny plastic steeples
With walls around our weakness
And smiles that hide our pain
But the invitations open
To every heart that’s been broken
Maybe then we close the curtain
On our stained glass masquerade

I’ve been to a ton of different churches over my life. While there are a lot of really great ones with sincere people, I’ve found that so many churches just seem fake. Everyone is faking happiness, everyone is saying that they’re great and fine and no one is really listening or caring.

Just love her like Jesus
Carry her to him
His yoke is easy
His burden is light
You don’t need the answers
To all of life’s questions
Just know that He loves her
Stay by her side
And love her like Jesus
Love her like Jesus

Daddy, here I am again,
Will you take me back tonight
I went and made the world my friend,
And it left me high and dry
I drag Your name back through the mud
That You first found me in
Not worthy to be called Your son
Is this to be my end?
Daddy, here I am
Here I am again
Daddy, here I am
Here I am again

We run from God, we seek our own way and live according to our own pleasure, but eventually it will all be stripped away and we’ll be desolate and alone. Run back to God. He is waiting with open arms to forgive us and help us change.

Morning breaks another day
Finds me crying in the rain
All alone with my demons I am
Who is this man that comes my way?
The dark ones shriek
They scream his name
Is this the one they say will set the captives free?
Jesus, rescue me

I didn’t actually read much this month because my flashlight ran out of batteries and by the time I got new ones, I had started playing with my sugar gliders right before bed (the time I normally used in reading) because they started getting up later and I wanted to play with them longer. XD But I started reading The Hobbit and I’m still trying to finish the first Green Ember book in the series.

Hmm. Now I’m looking over this blog post and it really doesn’t seem like we did much in June. XD Which is funny because this was actually a busier month. XD *shrugs* Oh well. I can say that I did quite a bit of school. I discovered that I actually enjoy it quite a bit and would much rather sit at home and work on it than go to the store. XD (I dislike shopping) XD

How was your Father’s Day? Do you have a birthday in June? What pets do you have? Do you like swimming? What did you do this month? Are you happy for summer to be officially here? Do you like shopping? What did you write this month?

    1. We actually have a lid, but it managed to climb out of the small gap in the water…filter thingy. 😟 So we’re trying to figure out how to stop them from doing that again. XD
Yes! Yoveil has been working on writing letters, so you maaaay just get one soon! 😉

  1. Oooh! Your June sounds sooo fun! Well, I don’t have my birthday in June, but my oldest sister just turned 22 on the 28th. I do like it that summer is here now! But I don’t like the fact that the days are now getting shorter–slowly but surely.😯Noooo! 😪 YES! I do like going shopping! But sadly I don’t get to go often. 🙁 Are you on summer break yet? We are sort of on summer break; though we’re working on our standardized tests, I need to finish a history assignment, and my brother and I need to (or at least we’re planning to) finish up French for the year.
Your sister’s pets look so cute! And that story of Dovid–😯 I hope the snail gets better.

    1. Ah yes, it’s terrible that the days are beginning to get shorter already. Back when we lived in MN, the days were so short for a lot of the year…it was very depressing.
What do you like shopping for?
I’m doing school through summer this year because I got SO behind last year.
Yeah, me too! The snail was moving around quite a bit today, though, so we’re hoping that he’s going to make it!

      1. I just like going shopping in general–for whatever. XD I don’t usually buy anything, I just tag along with my mother. When one of my sisters comes, we’ll sometimes walk around the store together, and she’ll be the one buying things. XD But that’s all changing now that the governor wants people to wear masks at stores.
        Oh! That’s good! 😅
