2020 Movie Guide

Hey, my people, sickness has been running around our house and we have had movie marathons the last couple days (plus a lot of cookies and hot coco…which probably wasn’t the greatest thing to support immune systems now that I think about it. XD).

Good movies can be so hard to find! I’ve put together a list of fun movies that we’ve seen over the past couple years. 🙂 ENJOY!

Five Stars:

Do You Believe

LOOOOOOOVE Do You Believe!!!! It is the story of twelve different people who are all faced with the question, “Do you believe?” I love all the different story lines and how they all cross each other’s paths so many times.

Beautifully Broken

Man. This movie was beautiful and heartbreaking and SO powerful! It was an amazing story of God’s power to work through evil for good and healing.

God’s Not Dead, God’s Not Dead 2 & God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness

GUUUUUUUUYS! The God’s Not Dead movies are SO good! Basically, the stories all tell one thing – that no matter the circumstances, no matter what happens, GOD IS NOT DEAD! I enjoyed all three movies, but the third was my favorite. It was EXTREMELY SAD but so beautiful, too!

Caged no more

Caged No More is a heartbreaking movie on the topic of human trafficking. It was really well done and very eye opening.

Unplanned

WOW. Guys. This was amazing. It was very eye-opening about the topic of abortion.

Fiddler on the Roof

Ah Fiddler on the Roof. I love this! I have seen it so many times, but each time it still makes me laugh (and feel sad). I love the songs, too!

Where Love Found me

I TOTALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE! A filmmaker goes into the slums and ends up meeting a band of street kids. It is a SAD and beautiful story!

Mom’s Night Out

People, if you want to laugh, this is your movie! Three stressed out moms get together for a relaxing, fun night out….buuuut things don’t go as planned. When a baby goes missing, they all go on a wild search to find the child. I laughed so hard. XD The characters are so well done and *ahem* so very relatable.

Faith of our fathers

You’ll cry and laugh at this movie. Man. The sons of two men who died during the Vietnam War meet and travel together learning more about their fathers. (THE CHARACTERS WERE SO GOOD!)

Four Stars:

Elf

We watched this New Year’s Eve and died laughing! Basically, it’s the story about a man who was raised by elves….he goes back to the “normal” world and doesn’t fit in AT ALL. XD XD

The Watsons go to Birmingham

This movie was on the topic of racism in 1963. It was funny and SAD at the same time.

Inside out

Wow, people. I love this animation A LOT! A girl moves and her emotions (which look like the CUTEST little people inside of her head) are trying to get her through the difficulty of moving….but then Joy and Sadness get lost and the only emotions she has left are Anger, Fear and Disgust. It is the story of Joy and Sadness trying to get back home.

Yellow Day

Yellow Day tells the story of this young man who is looking for a girl that he supposedly loves – and he’s going through the Yellow Day at a camp trying to find her. It is a really interesting and touching story!

Sweet Inspirations

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! A group of middle-aged Christian women open a bakery (selling cupcakes with bible verses on them!) to earn money to stop the foreclosure of a women & children’s shelter. IT IS A REALLY GOOD STORY! And the characters are well done and so funny!

Sound of music

CLASSIC! So many fond memories watching this!

Overcomer

I’m guessing that a lot of you have heard of this movie. I have to say that I wasn’t crazy about the ending. Basically, everything went perfectly for them and they got everything they wanted. :/ Which isn’t real life. But other than that, I thought it was a good story.

Priceless

This movie deals with the topic of human trafficking. I thought that Caged No More was much better done, but this was still okay.

Interview with God

I was surprised that this movie was good and didn’t have a lot of ridiculous “flaky” answers. The story is that this journalist ends up interviewing God and finds answers to his questions.

Three Stars:

Healing of the Heart

THIS MOVIE WAS SO FUNNY! (And touching). A grumpy judge gets stuck in a café with two people that he has judged hastily.

Summer Snow

This is a beautiful story about a family who is trying to adjust to life after their mother’s death. (AND THE MAIN CHARACTER – the little girl – REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF YOVEIL. SHE IS SO CUTE!)

The Incredibles  1 & 2

Ah yes. Cartoons. I happen to like enjoy a few of them. XD The Incredibles was a fun movie to watch. Basically, it’s about this family of superheroes who are hiding their identity. 🙂

Different Drummers

Different Drummers is based off of a true story of two boys who become unlikely friends. (IT HAS A VERY SAD ENDING, BTW. I won’t spoil it for you, but it is SAD.)

Me Again

A man wishes to be anyone but himself – and his wish comes true. A crazy adventure follows as he becomes different people. Finally, he begs to be himself again.

Dancer and the Dame

I love this movie! XD It is so funny! (Maybe you can see I have a thing for funny movies). Dancer and the Dame tells the story of Detective Dancer who had a personal trial and since then he basically just gives up on his life (and his work). But everything changes when he ends up being paired up with a police dog.

Monster, INC

This was such a cute cartoon! Monster Incorporated gathers power from the screams of children! The monsters scare the kids, gather the screams and then get out…they cannot be touched by the kids or they will die. So what happens when a tiny (very cute) little girl gets into the factory by accident?

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs (1 & 2)

This was such a fun cartoon to watch! Both made me laugh and I really enjoyed them! This guy creates a machine that can change water into food….but then the machine gets out of control.

Blizzard

Blizzard, a stubborn reindeer with special powers, risks being banished (by Santa) and befriends a sad girl who has just moved to a new place and had to leave the one thing that she loved most in the world – ice skating.

Brother White

An associate pastor at a mega church gets sent to a tiny church in Atlanta. Things are already going pretty badly, but then the church gets a threat that they will be closed down if they can’t come up with enough money.

Raising Izzy

Raising Izzy tells the story of a teenager who is trying to raise her little sister all alone. Their lives change when a teacher becomes interested in them.

Christmas for a Dollar

This is about a poor family living in the midst of the Depression. They all hope for a wonderful Christmas – with one dollar. But things don’t go as planned and Christmas had the potential to be ruined.

Silver Bells

A very competitive man gets suspended from his job and has to do community service – helping out the Salvation Army for the rest of the Christmas season. IT IS SO FUNNY. XD

Hope Bridge

When a man commits suicide, his son is left with many unanswered questions. The movie is his journey of seeking answers and finding hope in the midst of darkness.

Two Stars:

Bedtime Stories

Bedtime Stories is about a guy who discovers that the stories he and his niece & nephew tell at night can come true.

Alter Egos

A failing pastor of a church (that is very opposed to change) decides to “become” old to fit in with his congregation and to try to influence them that way. IT IS HILARIOUS!

One Star:

Rouge Saints

The acting isn’t the greatest and the story line is kind of weak, but this movie is SO funny, I’ve seen it so many times. It’s the story of these two guys who try to steal a diamond from under a baptismal in a church.

Heaven Bound

Again, the story line is weak and kind of ridiculous and the acting isn’t great, but it is a funny movie and I have seen it quite a few times. These three people try to steal jewels from a rich, dying man and they end up stuck with him inside of his house while he tries to convert them to Christianity.

The Star

The Star was supposedly a cartoon based on Jesus’s birth – seen from the eyes of a donkey. *Ahem* Well, it wasn’t very accurate. Okay, scratch that. It wasn’t accurate at all. :/

Phew! *wipes forehead* That’s a lot of movies! 😉 Enjoy, people!

  1. You put a lot of good movies on there! What? You watched Moms Night Out? I had been telling Jehosheba about that one for a while . . . 😉 And I agree with you – the God’s Not Dead movies are GREAT! Isn’t Anthony Evans in Caged No More? I LOVE Overcomer. AMAZING movie! And someday I hope to see Priceless . . . can’t wait to see that one. I LOVE for King & Country! I think Monsters, INC is so funny! 😛 And The Star . . . a family favorite here! 1. It’s SO funny!
That’s how I knew was because of his book . . . which is a great book. How did you like it? We went to a Priscilla Shirer conference (his sister), and he was doing the worship. After the conference, they had a meet-and-greet with him, so we were able to have one of his CDs signed, and his books signed. And pictures taken with him. :O It was amazing.
        You’re welcome!

  3. Of all of those, I think I’ve only watched Fiddler on the Roof (I really liked that one, btw), and Sound of Music. I hope to watch Unplanned in the near future. I know you didn’t mention this one, but I’ve watched Last Flight out, and I have to say…it was sad. 😪 But I still liked it. I also have watched Fireproof (long time ago…actually, I watched all of these quite a while back.) I also watched most of One Night with the King, about Esther….🤔right now that’s all I can think of…oh… no… actually, I’ve also watched The Ten Commandments (I think that’s what it’s called), the one with Ben Hur in it. Oh, I’ve also watched some of Luther, obviously about Martin Luther. I think I’ve watched some of Amazing Grace. I’ve watched the movie Ben Hur…I think that’s what it’s called…Alright, I better stop rambling. 😄

      1. Oh, another good movie was Gods and Generals and Gettysburg. Those are about the Civil War and SO SAD!!!!
Ooh an another one I’ve seen was Hidden in Silence. It was about a woman who hid Jews during the Holocaust. (Very sad).
Lol, now I’m the one rambling!

    1. Neato! I haven’t heard of Last Flight! What is it about?
Oh yes!!! I love Fireproof. Agr! I totally forgot to mention the other movies by the Kendrick Brothers! 🤦🏻‍♀️ They all have perfect endings, but I still like them.
I hope you get to see Unplanned soon. IT IS SO GOOD. I think it gave a really fair representation of both groups.
I have seen One Night With The King, but not the other ones you mentioned.
I love ramblers! 😜 I do it all of the time! XD

      1. 😄😄😜 Last Flight Out (which is also funny) is about (to the best of my memory. Remember this was a while ago) there’s a village, where this lady is a missionary to… I think… and there are these terrorist type guys that are going to attack it or something. Back in the US, the woman’s father asks a pilot?? or former pilot to go and try to persuade the daughter to get out of the village. The pilot brings another guy with him (?), and when they get there, the pilot is trying to get the woman to leave the village. She doesn’t want to go unless the whole village leaves. So they end up getting everyone from the village onto the plane, and by a miracle, they take off. The other man stays back to do something (I forget what), and he ends up getting shot and eventually dying. My “description” doesn’t do the movie justice…meaning you’d have to watch it yourself. 😉 Oh, yes! I’ve seen (part of) Gods and Generals. I’ve heard of Hidden in Silence, but I haven’t watched it. I’ve also watched the Love Comes Softly series (which, in my opinion) is a little bit cheesy.☺ I’ve also watched Miracle Worker about Helen Keller, and part of The Hiding Place about Corrie Ten Boome.

          1. Oh, yes! Sadness was a great and funny character! I think my favorite character was…

            Disgust. I’m a fan of dumb-looking characters! 😆

In Japan, they call it “Inside Head,” but they’re forgetting the “THE”!

            Liked by 1 person

              1. Whooooops!! I made a terrible mistake!!! 😫😭 When you said “she,” I was like “huh?,” but then I realised I got Disgust and Fear all mixed up!!! How embarrassing!! I apologize for my foolishness…

Take Two! Marker and action! 🎬(Snap!)

My favorite character in Inside Out is FEAR!!! 😱

                Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes! It was very good. The first one is about this student who is given a set amount of time at the end of class to prove the existence of God. And some other stuff. 🙂
